“My name is Declan and I am a payroll officer working for Manchester City Council.
I chose to undertake this apprenticeship to develop my payroll knowledge as well as gain some exposure to the sides of payroll which I don’t directly deal with such as pensions, HMRC reporting (FPS/EPS etc.) and many pieces of legislation which do not directly impact my daily job.
I feel like the primary benefit of completing this apprenticeship is that my knowledge in these areas have gone from being vaguely informed to being at a level where I’m now confident to apply the knowledge to my job and pass this on to others. In addition to this, I now possess a formal qualification which is recognised throughout the industry and will help me move around within payroll should I seek new work opportunities.
Now that I’ve completed my apprenticeship, I aim to remain within the industry for a few more years, learning all I can from my current position before moving on to a more senior / technical position either within my company or external.
MBKB have been supportive throughout my course, all the way from the course signup straight through to the end point assessment. My tutor Sam was very knowledgeable and helpful, explaining each unit to me in great detail and always replying to any queries which I had swiftly.
If you ever have the opportunity to undertake an apprenticeship provided by MBKB I would fully recommend it. The support provided throughout my time studying has been a huge help, and I now have access to a wide range of learning resources which I was previously unaware of.”

“My name is Zuzanna Blak and I am a payroll administrator. I have chosen to do my qualification with MBKB. The course was Apprenticeship Levy funded so I didn’t have to worry about how to pay for it. I have completed my Level 3 in Payroll not long ago and I have already received my certificate.
As a part of my course, I did my Level 2 in Maths and English, which is great. The course was well set out, easy to understand and complete. I had a lot of support from my tutor, I could even text her via WhatsApp when I had very urgent questions. We had regular meetings via Zoom and we could discuss the tasks delegated to me on regular basis.
I had to complete many assessments that helped me to prepare for my exams. I recommend the course to anyone who wishes to up-skill in this area of work. I have learnt about different areas of payroll including different types of pension that I wasn’t aware of. It allowed me to study from home during a whole pandemic and pass my exam from home using a ProctorExam App.
I could also carry on with my current job at the same time. The knowledge I gained helps me to do my job better and I am keen to do another level in future. Thank you for all support I was given during my Apprenticeship!”

“I am a now qualified payroll administrator; I chose to do an apprenticeship so that I could learn more about the payroll industry and learn on the job. There have been many benefits thanks to completing this apprenticeship, I would say the main benefit would be by me gaining my qualification while working at the same time.
Another benefit would be that I have now good a wide knowledge of the payroll industry and I have increased my payroll skills massively due to learning on the job and the different tasks I completed in preparation for my payroll exams. Another benefit that I have experienced thanks to the apprenticeship would be that I have learnt more about the different areas of payroll that I don’t cover on my day-to-day job, I have increased my knowledge in these areas by completing the college tasks required.
The ambitions for my career now that I am qualified is to progress my career and work myself up the ladder by working hard in my job and by increasing my knowledge further regarding the jobs that are needed to be completed in the payroll department. MBKB have supported me in my learning by having monthly calls to discuss the outstanding tasks and how to go about answering the different types of questions. I also had the opportunity to call or text my tutor if there was anything that I was unsure of or if there was anything I wanted a bit of extra support on.
I would recommend MBKB for multiple reasons ranging from the support at the end of the phone if it was needed and to the way the tasks were given out and how our tasks/exams were handled.”
