Programme overview: People Professional Apprenticeship

This role can be found in organisations of any size, in any sector. In smaller organisations, this type of role is likely to have a broader remit. People Professionals play a key role in supporting the business to meet its strategic objectives by driving forward the people agenda.

Our Programme also includes the CIPD Level 5 Associate Diploma in People Management.

The People Professional apprenticeship is integrated, combining the CIPD Level 5 Associate Diploma in People Management, with the People Professional apprenticeship standard. The CIPD qualification is completed alongside the apprenticeship, and learners will delve into generalist and specialist areas of people practice, from both an operational standpoint, whilst also exploring the strategic side.

The typical duration on programme will be 22 months, as well as a 3-month end point assessment (EPA period), where learners will be required to complete the 5CO03 (integrated) CIPD unit, as well as take part in a professional discussion and deliver a presentation to an assessor from the CIPD, who are our nominated end point assessment organisation.

Who is the apprenticeship for?

The apprenticeship is suitable for anyone who is in a People Professional role such as HR Advisor, HR Generalist (or equivalent), or operating in a specialist HR role, but looking to broaden their understanding of the wider employee lifecycle.

Those with the Level 5 People Professional apprenticeship are well positioned to establish themselves in a more senior role such as HR Manager (or equivalent), or move into a specialist role, focussing on a niche area of people practice.

Whilst on programme, learners will be required to be providing advice/coaching in particular to managers and leaders across a broad range of areas linked to the employee lifecycle, whilst also supporting people projects strategically to support the business to meet its objectives.

How will I be assessed?

For the CIPD qualification, learners will be taught and assessed through written assignments, completing 6 CIPD units during their apprenticeship in areas including Evidence Based HR, Reward, and Talent Management, with one unit assessed as part of the end point assessment (EPA), so in total, there are 7 units to complete.

Alongside this, learners through the apprenticeship will be required to compile a portfolio of evidence (POE) which comprises of tutor facilitated learning activities and professional discussions, with the requirement during the apprenticeship to complete a live project. The apprenticeship will build on the CIPD qualification and cover other crucial areas such as stakeholder and project management, wellbeing and much more.

What will I cover?

Topics to be covered as part of the apprenticeship include leading and managing projects, stakeholder management, improving people capability and performance, emerging trends in people practice, and wellbeing at work and sustainability.

What will I receive at the end of the apprenticeship?

Learners who complete the end point assessment successfully, will be awarded the Level 5 People Professional apprenticeship, as well as the Level 5 Associate Diploma in People Management and will be eligible for Associate membership of the CIPD, with the ability to use the designated letters ‘Assoc CIPD’ after your name, which demonstrates your professional excellence and credibility.
