Payroll practitioners are key workers
Develop individuals. Develop companies.
Following the introduction of the latest lockdown, and once again schools are only open for children of critical workers and vulnerable children, the question has again been asked, are payroll staff key workers?
The short answer is yes. After all, who would pay the wages of all the critical workers, and process the payments of furloughed workers, if payroll staff were not still working even harder than ever?
The official advice provided by the Department for Education is that payroll fits within the category of “utilities, communications and financial services”, and as such, a payroll practitioner is considered to be a critical worker.
